Hope for Tomorrow

Written by: Richard Okunola.

Looking at the recent phenomenon and day-to-day struggles and hustles all in a bid to attain success. It is obvious and evident that so many people (including me and you) are beginning to lose hope. From turmoils to traumatic experiences leading to sturm und drang, we no longer harbour hope. We lost hope long time ago because we are saddened by our inability to procure and secure the future.

In fact to some, it looks like the daily stress and hustles may never end as the future we have always looked up to since juvenescence has been impaired and no longer in-view. Some have completely lost hope because there is always one need or the other they desired but are unable to achieve. The failure to possess these goals timely has cost them lots of proclivity for shabby options.

As a student, you see your mates/colleagues achieving good grades, doing very well in academics, they finish school and unfortunately could not get a lucrative job. You look at yourself and say, "Can I really achieve my dreams", "hope I'm not gonna join this queue of unemployment too, you say to yourself". Your dream of getting into the University at 17 becomes mission impossible as JAMB keep knocking you out of the game and that University of your choice looks so difficult to penetrate. Now you're 20 years still not admitted. Where is this great future?

As Parents, you watch your son, daughter or ward grow up into adulthood and still you have not stopped incurring (buying/providing) the basic needs on him or her having attained the peak period of being a child. For how long will things be like this, you say! When will you grow up Oh lofty Child! When will this future we hoped for arrive?

As Pastors, your congregation keep declining as members keep struggling hard to believe in the truth you are preaching due to their desire for a better life. Yeah! You know they want something better than their current condition and despite their decision to seek for the knowledge of in-depth truth, they keep drawing back. You have a zeal, a burning passion but no commission, no orientation and members are not committed. You reason! How am I going to manage the future of this Church!

As Politicians, you keep aspiring to become better, attain a higher position, increase your income and perform excellently your duties and responsibilities to the people but the corruption???  embezzlement and deceit trending in your circus, would they facilitate your success? Your zeal declined as your appetite became insatiably cynical. Truncated dreams!

As Professionals, the main goal is to achieve all academic and professional qualifications within a stipulated time so as to facilitate your career growth but then! Financial constraints has set in, your hope is stabbed, your dreams are halted. Where is the hope for that great future!
